Our aim is to conduct research and development on basic numerical techniques and computer codes for Nonlinear Optimization and their application in Engineering Analysis and Design.
Research on Optimization Algorithms is mainly focused on FAIPA, the Feasible Arc Interior Point Algorithm for large scale nonlinear optimization, and includes a set of numerical algorithms for various Mathematical Programming problems. We mention SAND - Simultaneous Analysis and Design, MDO - Multidisciplinary Design Optimization, RSM – Response Surface Methods, Complementarity Problems, Bi - Level Programming and Non – Smooth Optimization.
Optimization is the main field our Engineering Applications. We work on a
wide set of problems concerning discrete structures, such as trusses, beams
or plates and also on shape and topology optimization. Classical and new materials
are employed. Our numerical techniques are also applied to structural analysis
involving variational inequalities, like contact problems or limit analysis..
